St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, a 501(c)(3) religious organization, established Zion House in 2001 as its community outreach and development department. Zion House was founded to secure funding and address unmet needs across the nine counties of Maryland's Eastern Shore, as well as in Accomack County, Virginia, and Sussex County, Delaware. Its initiatives focus on health education and outreach, academic support, homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing, and employment assistance.
Our programs include: Healthy Living, Pre-Steps Health & Fitness, Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance, Community Health, Community Transformation, Pregnancy and Tobacco Cessation Support, Uplifting Families Through Academic Excellence, Community Garden Project, Supportive Services for Veteran Families, and the Homeless Veterans Re-Integration Program.
